On 14 October, a working meeting was held with the representatives of more than a dozen non-governmental organisations at the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia.

The draft Law "On preventing and combating domestic violence" was discussed with the participation of Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Vigen Kocharyan, Head of the Department of Legislation of the Staff of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Bagrat Ghazinyan and other representatives of the Council of Europe and the Ministry of Justice.

Greeting the attendees, Deputy Minister Vigen Kocharyan expressed his gratitude to the NGOs for co-operating with the Ministry and for submitting their comments and recommendations regarding the draft Law. Vigen Kocharyan noted that the draft Law "On preventing and combating domestic violence" was still the initial version and the first result of development by the Working Group which also needed to be discussed with representatives of the civil society. "We are open to any recommendations which could help improve this or that provision, as well as any dialogue", V. Kocharyan noted.

Afterwards, the representatives of the NGOs presented their comments and recommendations that they wanted to be included in the draft.  The representatives noted that they also welcomed the development of such a draft. The NGO members also noted that they would submit their main recommendations to the Working Group in a package in the near future.

At the end of the meeting, it was decided to hold another meeting with the representatives of the non-governmental organisations after the final revision of the draft in order to summarise the results.
